Insurance - Easy Way to Locate Cheap Policies
Learn how to locate Life Insurance at the cheapest cost
R. Dodger - November 14, 2009
Nowadays, there is a growing interest in the importance of life insurance policies worldwide. This may be due to
the growing awareness of the benefits of insurance, and also to the declining costs based on lower mortality rates.
Regardless, for those interested in locating the most cost effective policy for their needs, the questions remains:
how to locate the lowest cost life insurance that meet our needs.
Nearly everyone has access to the Internet (also known as the World Wide Web). Even with the use of the Internet,
the search for the best policy that uniquely meets your needs can be daunting. In this article, we will attempt to
make the search easier.
The first step in the search process involves preparation on your part. You must have answers to these basic
questions:
1. What can I afford to pay? 5% of earnings is the typical guideline.
2. How much coverage do I need? This could be for lost income over your working lifetime, and/or to cover current
debt that will be paid off over a short time.
3. What type of policy I prefer or need? Term Life (just pure insurance and the cheapest plan), or Whole or
Universal Life (insurance plus investment). You could also opt for a combination.
The answers to these basic questions will be critical for locating a policy that will best meet your needs; both
financially and emotionally (you will sleep better knowing that you are properly insured at a price you can
afford).
There are tens of thousands of insurance companies offering hundreds of thousands of insurance plans. This is quite
a daunting task to, at a minimum, become aware of all the possible plans and options. It would certainly make sense
to have a licensed and experienced broker help identify quickly those plans that will best meet your needs.
How do you do this on the Internet? Actually, it’s quite easy. Just search for broker websites for the term: life
insurance independent agent. This should provide you with a list of independent insurance agents and brokers.
Independent agents/brokers represent multiple insurance companies, and should provide an unbiased viewpoint. When
looking at the search results, if there is a directory listed take a look there first. I would suggest contacting
several independent agents/brokers to get a broad list of life insurance plans specific to your needs.
Keep in mind, there should be no charge by the agent to provide assistance in locating a policy at the lowest cost;
they are compensated by the insurance company that you select.
There are two big benefits gained by using an independent insurance agent as opposed to obtaining quotes from
individual insurance companies:
1. Price comparisons will likely be apples-to-apples. That is, the policies will be comparable because the broker
will select very similar plans for comparison.
2. You will get excellent support in determining exactly what you need for your specific circumstances. The
agent/broker will make suggestions regarding options and riders that will match your requirements.
With access to the Internet, it is far easier today to locate a life insurance policy the best meets your needs at
the cheapest price.
